Review - [JOLSE] Blithe Patting Splash mask Energy Citrus & Honey 200ml, Blithe Pressed serum Tundra Chaga 10ml

I got to know about the patting water masks a long time ago and they have been in my wish list for a long time.

I was selected as one of the reviewers by Jolse.com for two products - Blithe Patting Water pack in Citrus and Honey, and Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga.

The water patting pack was a full sized one and the presses serum was in the size of a deluxe sample with 10ml of product.

Let us look into the reviews one by one.

1. Blithe Patting Water Pack - Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey.

Patting water pack or splash mask is relatively new and it is not that common, atleast for me.

We will see how to use the pack after looking into the ingredients and talking about that.

Ingredients:
Water, Lactic Acid, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Panthenol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated castor oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium lactate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil.

We will look into the main ingredients now.

The main ingredient after water is Lactic Acid, an Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which is the main exfoliant present in this bottle. Being an AHA, it will help with removing the dead cells and will be able to provide a brightening effect too. Apart from this, an AHA cannot penetrate deep to clear your congested pores and remove excess sebum. These are done by BHA.

The next ingredient is Gardenia Florida Fruit extract. It is a type of Jasmine and it also acted as a fragrant.

Vaccinium Myrtillus fruit extract - Blueberry extract and is a good antioxidant.

Sugar cane extract - Has naturally occurring Glycolic Acid, an AHA

Orange and lemon extract- Contains Citric acid, an AHA.

Sugar Maple extract - Contains natural AHA

It also contains a lot of essential oils which give the mask the natural fragrance and moisturizing property.

This is essentially an AHA product containing Lactic acid, Glycolic acid and Citric acid with Lactic acid as the main AHA.

The exact concentration of AHA is not mentioned and most of the instructions are in Korean. But one can find the usage in the internet.

About the product:

The brand says that the product should be mixed in a proportion of 1:100 and it also says to use the product 1 - 2 times a day. But I used them once in two days for one week and once daily after that.

I pour one cap of the mask into a bowl of water and mix them well.

I use this after washing my face. I take some amount of the mask+water mixture and splash it on my face. I splash for a few seconds and then I pat them onto my face like i do for skincare products.

Then I keep on repeating it until the bowl is empty.
After that I do not wash my face.

How it worked?

Once my face had dried, I can see that my face had a very minimal brightening effect and also it did not feel like a thoroughly cleansed skin.
To be fair, it felt like that i have just applied a skincare and not tacky or sticky or heavy.

I followed it up with a very minimal routine on the first night I used that since I wanted to note the effect of this product alone. Honestly, I was not expecting much from it in the first usage and I went to sleep.

In the morning after washing my face using my regular cleanser, I could see a very noticeable difference.

My hyperpigmented areas did not vanish overnight. But the face was more eventoned and more smoother and plump.

I have used acids before and they have never shown such immediate results. I have used Glycolic acid based products alone before and this being mainly a Lactic acid one must have been the drastic change my skin must have been waiting for. Lactic acid is the go to for my skin!

The smoothness was really appreciable with naked eyes and it did not disappear in an hour or so.

After a week of using it once in 2 days, I decided to use them regularly everyday. A point to note is i was not using any other exfoliating products along with it. Not even anything of the mildest form.

I have been using it for around 3 weeks now and my skin has never been softer. Once my skin starts to maintain the smoothness and the plumpness, I have decided to down the usage to once in 2 days again.

I have been totally amazed by this product and though I have tried many exfoliators before, this one was the best and it is a water mask! I was actually quite sceptical since it is not a leave on skincare product. But the patting in between splashing and patting it afterwards actually works better for me because I cannot find 15 minutes inbetween my routine to wait for the product to work. This one hardly takes half a minute and does the same.

Pros
-Less time to use.
-Can be used daily and if you are someone with acne and has a tough time finding good exfoliants, this will work so well.
-Doesn't leave any sticky or tacky residue once absorbed
-Made my skin smooth and plump. The skin texture has never been this good.(My skin is combination, dehydrated and acne prone)

Cons
- Price. It is on the pricier side. (But it contains 200ml. And for each usage you need very less making it last a long time. One bottle will last for 2 to 3 months with daily usage)

One word: Awesome!

My Rating: 10/10

P.S - I fell in love with this so much that I went and purchased another bottle because I need this in my routine. And I ordered them once more when I found them on sale and it is on the way. Skin set for another 6 months atleast.

2. Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga Review:
The product that I got was a 10ml product and after 3 weeks I still have a lot left.
Let us look at the ingredients, eventhough the name itself has it.

Ingredients:
Inonotus Obliquus (Mushroom) Extract (60%), Water, Glycerin, Diglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Triethylhexanoin, Polyurethane-39, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Alteromonas Ferment Extract, Sparassis Crispa Extract, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Lecithin, Butylene Glycol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Polyacrylate-13, C12-16 Alcohols, Caramel, Palmitic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Polyisobutene, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Adenosine, Polysorbate 20, Disodium EDTA, Dipropylene Glycol, Methyldihydrojasmonate

The first ingredient is Inonotus Obliqus. This is the Tundra Chaga mushroom which is a parasitic fungi. The information on how it is good for skin is still not clearly available. And there is one study which proves that this mushroom has anti-tumour properties when ingested continuously. But the mechanism is unknown.
This constitutes 60% of this pressed serum.

About the product:

The pressed serum is a caramel coloured product and at first sight it looked like it will be a heavy moisturizer.
But not all first impressions were right.

The smell of this product is like a caramel too. Also this has caramel as one of the ingredients.
It is actually not like the thick creams and it stays true to its name of a pressed serum. Once I rub it between my fingers, it turns like a serum and is very cooling on the skin.

I used this after toner and essence and this product immediately got absorbed. It did not take long and my skin immediately felt that cooling effect.

On the first day, I did not follow it up with any moisturizer.

The next day I had the same experience with it but I followed it up with a sleeping pack. And I continued using it for the next 3 weeks with a sleeping pack or a cream.

How did it work for me?
I have a dehydrated skin and I felt that this product catered more towards my dehydration than moisturization. It did not make my combination skin feel heavy or congested and instead my skin felt satisfied.

Sometimes when we add products, it doesn't get absorbed much and when you wash your face, you can feel them getting washed away. But this was a little different and it got sunk and I could say that my skin drank this though it is not a liquid.

This did not show any dramatic effect and I did not start using this immediately after using the Blithe water patting mask. I wanted to know which worked.

While using this, I can see my skin producing less sebum in the T zone and not become oily at all. I get oily in the T zone even with a powder and so this was a surprise. That is when I declared that this works so well for my dehydration. Like a plant being watered, my skin felt good with this.

Coming to the claims of nourishing and firming, I definitely did not feel the nourishing part and I was happy that it was a good hydration product for my skin. About the firming part, I am still in my mid twenties and certainly cannot see those results. Even for the early effects like more plumped skin and more voluminous face, I will be needing to use this for atleast 3 to 4 months to see the results.
But for now, I am amazed with how it caters to the needs of my skin and I am happy with that.

If you are someone with a dehydrated combination skin, it is for you. It also depends on the climatic conditions.

About buying the full sized product again, I will definitely save up and get this since it is not cheap. But if you are finding a product which works so well for you, one shouldn't let that go.

I will continue to use this until I find a better hydrator for my skin. Until then I will use it with a cream or sleeping pack during winters. And alone in summers. I think it is going to be my holy grail skincare for summers.

Pros
-Greatly hydrates the skin
-Gets absorbed easily
-No heaviness or greasiness on the skin
- A small quantity will be sufficient for both face and neck
-Gives a cooling effect(though subtle) on the skin, which will be great for summers.

Cons
-Price. (I am going to look out for sales and grab this. One full sized product will last atleast for 5 to 6 months for me)

Final Verdict- A pleasant surprise

My rating- 9/10

The opinion expressed in the review is entirely my own. I got these products from Jolse.com
